$14000 for Karuna!

Posted on 26 May 2017

We are so very proud of Queensland Medical Orchestra and all our supporters.

Today, Dr Ryan Williams (our Artistic Director), Dr Penny Mainstone (bass clarinettist and palliative care physician), Dr Roger Allison (bass clarinettist and radiation oncologist), Emma Lumsden (4th year medical student, pianist and managing director of Ashintosh Foundation), visited Karuna Hospice Services and presented them with a cheque for $14000. This was money raised from our 'Care to Dance?' concert, in memory of Dr John Roberts whom we lost to pancreatic cancer last year. We are sincerely thankful to our sponsors, musicians, guest performers, Queensland Ballet Academy and everyone in our audience for their support - without whom we would not have been able to raise such a phenomenal amount for Karuna. The funds will ensure that Karuna can continue to provide such an important service to our community.

This was an outcome beyond our expectations, so a very sincere big Thank You to all our supporters.

Bach to Brunhilde (Sunday 9th April 2019)

This is an event not to be missed. Presented by both the Queensland Medical Orchestra and Choir, this concert will explore the joys of Germanic music, from well-known classics by Bach and Handel to the dramatic masterpieces by Wagner and Beethoven. This will be a spectacular afternoon of music from Germany and Austria through the centuries.
